The Ministry of Defence has purchased the quad bikes for the units 3493 in Olomouc (6 pcs) and 4215 in Tabor (2 pcs) with a total amount of 4,136,000.22 CZK. These are the regional headquarters of the Military Police. What is such a quad bike in the hands of policemen for?

Polaris Ranger is sometimes referred to as the best UTV heavy quad bike in its class with the highest load in this category.  Thanks to a high-tech engine it astounds with its high capacity. Supposedly, it has excellent driving characteristics and great traction due to a high-quality chassis and reliable variator. The bonus is the automatic connection of the front drive including the differential lock. Enough of the marketing talk, let’s take it seriously now. The purchased quad bike has a relatively high load capacity. Concerning the body, it has respectable 454 kg, with payload up to 680 kg. In reality, this means high utility value and possibility of heavy load.

Why does the Military Police need a high body load and payload? It can be guarding / patrol activity in the deployment zone, transport of material (sniper rifles, ammunition, equipment of an individual…), but it can also include the anticipation of training using fast, mobile and passable means, which, however, have higher passability through built-up/forested terrain than in the case of vehicles, which the Military Police commonly uses. We certainly do not mean Octavia, but Range Rovers, Land Rovers, etc.

It is also possible to connect working tools to this quad bike according to the manufacturer. For instance, a snow removal blade, cargo transport trolley, lawn mower, sprinkles for irrigation, tool holders and other tools. We can imagine the just mentioned holders in a completely different configuration than the spray hose holders. In addition, there is high capacity of a four-cylinder two-stroke engine with a capacity of 999 cm3, a three-seat design, a number of protective frames and possible accessories, such as a winch, etc.

We can find out the purpose of the acquisition of the equipment between the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and the seller, the company Raj ctyrkolek s.r.o., in the Contract Register  “The purpose of the completion of the fleet with vehicles that are suitable for the forest terrain and further improvement of the quality of the Military Police fleet and accomplishment of the tasks of the Military Police within the protection of designated objects,” is stated in the contract.
