Students of the military high school in Moravská Třebová visited the companies Tatra Trucks and Tatra Defence Vehicle in Kopřivnice
In October, representatives of Tatra Trucks and Tatra Defence Vehicle, which are based in the industrial area in Kopřivnice, welcomed students from the Military High School and the Higher Vocational School of the Ministry of Defence in Moravská Třebová to their production facilities. The students saw the production facilities of both companies, some new products prepared for the Czech army and foreign customers, and also took a ride in Tatra military vehicles.
Future ICT specialists focused on communication and computer technology from the first and second year could thus get acquainted not only with the production programmes of both forms, but also with projects related to the modernization of equipment and armaments of the Czech army as well as with digitalization processes. First, they visited the premises of Tatra Trucks. The automaker specializes in the development and production of heavy and medium trucks and will deliver hundreds of new Tatra trucks to the Czech army in the coming years for logistics purposes, but also as carriers of various special bodies and weapon systems. During their visit, the students were able to see the final assembly process of various types and versions of Tatra vehicles directly at the premises of the car plant. Representatives of Tatra also introduced them to the history and present of the company and its plans for the future. They were then able to experience first-hand what Tatra cars can do on the test road circuit, in difficult terrain and on various test surfaces of special roads.
After the visit to the car factory, the students visited the nearby Tatra Defence Vehicle company. The company specializes in the development, production and repair of armoured ground vehicles. The main pillars of its production portfolio are mainly Pandur II 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicles and TITUS 6x6 armoured vehicles. In addition, it also produces and develops armoured cabins and bodies for Tatra chassis.
The students had the opportunity to see the facility where TITUS vehicles are built or serviced for the Czech Army and foreign customers, where tank equipment is modernized, new Pandur II and TADEAS vehicles are developed, and where technological units and subassemblies are produced for modernization projects of the Czech Army, such as Spyder anti-aircraft systems, or for partner companies, such as BvS10 armoured vehicle hulls. They were also able to see armoured cabins for Tatra vehicles used in ballistic and blast resistance tests.
At the end of their visit to Kopřivnice, the students visited the Tatra Truck Museum, where they saw an extensive collection of Tatra trucks, commercial, special and racing vehicles, which maps the entire history of truck production in Kopřivnice.
